Synesthesia

This week in class we talked about Brain Disorders. We learned that not all of them are a bad thing. 2 that we learned about that do not seem like a necessarily bad thing are Savant Syndrome and Synesthesia. The other ones that we learned about that aren't the ideal to have are Parkinson's, Congenital Analgia, Autism, and the one that my group researched, Epilepsy. One that caught my eye was Synesthesia. Synesthesia is having your senses crosses. For example: You would hear colors, taste words, and smell images. It's crazy to me all of these letters would be in different colors to someone who has Synesthesia. For instance this sentence would look like this. Hello, my name is Alyssa Bunday. The following website shows what one person sees with her case of Synesthesia.

Like i mentioned before most people think that this isn't a bad thing because your good at spelling because each letter has a certain color that you always see when you see that letter. Or when your tasting food you associate it shapes. In the video we watched in class the girl said that her soup tasted square. So Mr. Drier said that people often become chefs because they can associated food very well together.
I think that my mind would go crazy seeing all of these things flashing through my brain all the time and having my senses almost like re-wired. But, i can see how people could use this in there advantage and it would be a good thing.
